The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is responsible for managing the state's natural and cultural resources. They are seeking an Accounting Technician II to perform various office and technical tasks related to financial processing, including budget control, invoicing, and document management.
Responsibilities
- Budget control of the procurement process, purchase transactions, and direct pay activities including monitoring spending
- Invoicing for 501c3 reimbursement
- Review and processing documents such as invoices and purchase orders ensuring they're correct, approved for payment, and submitted to accounts payable for payment
- Management of card purchases
- Approval of all travel documents
- Section liaison with the Department's purchasing, accounts payable, and other areas of the business office
Skills
- Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution AND one year of accounting experience
- OR High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in accounting work
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be available to work the schedule of Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm including a one-hour lunch
- Must have the ability to read and present financial information clearly and concisely in oral and written form
- Experience in procurement including encumbrance closing
- Experience in fixed assets control and reporting
- Knowledge of accounting methods and practices
- Experience in Accounts payable
- Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and/or Outlook
