The Analyst I role involves performing analytical functions to support the Department's hiring efforts, including reviewing candidate applications and utilizing the Examination and Certification Online System to facilitate the hiring process. Responsibilities - Perform average to difficult analytical functions to support the Department's hiring efforts - Reviewing candidate applications to assess reachability and minimum qualifications - Addressing detected deficiencies through interaction with the candidate, including a temporary withhold process - Creating a defendable justification to support eligible determinations - Responding to State Personnel Board appeals - Utilize the Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS) to facilitate the hiring process to recruit high-quality candidates and ensure the civil service merit system is up Skills - A Statement of Qualifications or Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted along with your application to be considered for this position - Applications submitted without an SOQ may be disqualified for this position - You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678) - If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts for verification - If selected, you may be required to provide official transcripts at the time of hire - Describe your experience in reviewing or analyzing requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs) - Describe a time when you had to interpret and apply a specific law, policy, or regulation in your work - What steps did you take to ensure accuracy and compliance? - Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov - All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position Company Overview - California Department of Social Services funds several programs that assist underprivileged and vulnerable children and adults.
