Summary:
The Department of Teacher Education and Leadership in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavior Sciences at Alabama A & M University seeks one (1) fulltime faculty-member to teach research classes. The rank and tenure-status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research classes across programs both online and traditional modalities.
• Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities.
• Conducting and disseminating high-quality independent research
• Performing other duties as assigned
• Maintain an active research agenda in area of expertise. Publish scholarly works in high quality outlets.
• Seek and secure external grant funding to support research and further interdisciplinary initiatives
• Develop, tailor, and teach online and campus-based courses, including undergraduate and graduate courses and seminars on research methodologies and curriculum and Instruction courses in areas of expertise.
• Mentor and advise doctoral, and master's students in research and for thesis and dissertation
• Serve on and chair graduate thesis and dissertation committees
• Collaborate and engage in service to the department, college, state, and national professional organizations, school districts, and local communities.
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
• Doctorate in any curriculum field with emphasis with research.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of teaching experience at the college level, preferably in the graduate school or college of professional studies.
• Evidence of scholarship in the form of research articles, books, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Evidence of expertise in quantitative methodology
• Evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and ability to support the university's Very High Research Designation
• Evidence of strong potential for excellence in teaching (face-to-face and online)
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• At least 3 years of college or university level teaching experience.
• Evidence of extramural support or of potential to be successful in securing extramural support
• Experience teaching graduate educational and interdisciplinary research and/or statistics courses.
• Experience in measurement, program evaluation, data science, machine learning, survey and mixed methods research, or other quantitative areas
• Experience mentoring student research
