National Grid is hiring an Associate Engineer for their NY Gas Asset Management & Engineering department. The role involves providing technical expertise to ensure the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the gas distribution network.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering analysis to support the Leak Prone Pipe (LPP) replacement program, including risk evaluation, asset condition assessment, and development of project recommendations
- Analyze leaks, asset, and material data to identify trends, support prioritization, and improve system integrity performance
- Support development of annual and multi‑year workplans by preparing project inputs, reviewing field data, and validating scope assumptions
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and exhibits for internal stakeholders and regulatory filings
- Collaborate with Field Operations, Distribution Engineering, Resource Planning/Coordination, and Corrosion to gather information, resolve data gaps, and refine project scopes
- Utilize internal enterprise systems (MEPS, Maximo, GIS platforms) to maintain project records, track progress, and ensure data accuracy
- Participate in process reviews and contribute to improvements of engineering procedures, tools, and workflows
- Perform engineering studies and investigations under guidance, recommending corrective actions or mitigation strategies where appropriate
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university required
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam with Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
- 0-2 years of engineering or project management experience
- Valid driver's license required
