They are seeking a driven, self-starting Business Development Representative to help grow their presence in this market by building a pipeline of potential clients and engaging with them through various outreach methods. Responsibilities - Research and identify target organizations — federal, state, and local campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy orgs, and government agencies — using LinkedIn Sales Navigator and public sources - Find and map the right contacts within each org (Comms Directors, Digital Directors, Campaign Managers, Exec Directors) and build outreach lists in Salesforce - Run multi-touch outbound sequences across email, phone, and LinkedIn — personalized to each buyer’s context, not copy-paste templates - Qualify inbound leads and respond within 24 hours - Attend political tech conferences, advocacy convenings, and DC-area networking events to build relationships and surface new pipeline - Identify upcoming events relevant to our ICP each quarter and flag opportunities for in-person engagement - Represent Mobile Commons professionally at industry gatherings; follow up with contacts in Salesforce within 48 hours of any event - Conduct initial discovery calls to understand org size, use case, current tools, and buying authority - Apply a structured qualification approach before handing off to the AE — no cold handoffs - Deliver handoff summaries that include: who you spoke with, what they need, why now, and any competitive context - Log all activity in Salesforce same day — calls, emails, events, and meeting notes - Keep pipeline records clean and current; surface stale or at-risk prospects in weekly check-ins Skills - 0–2 years of experience in sales, organizing, campaigns, or a related field — we care more about drive and curiosity than a resume full of BDR titles - Genuine interest in political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or civic tech — you should find this world interesting, not just tolerable - Self-starter who takes initiative without waiting to be told what to do next - Strong written communication — you can write a sharp, human email that doesn't sound like a template - Organized and detail-oriented — you keep your own records clean and follow through on commitments - Comfortable making cold calls and attending events where you don't know anyone yet - Familiarity with Salesforce or a comparable CRM is a plus, but not required - Located in or willing to relocate to the DC area preferred; strong remote candidates will be considered Benefits - Medical, dental, and vision insurance — majority employer-covered - 401(k) with company match - Flexible, remote-friendly work environment - Paid time off + company holidays, including Election Day - Professional development budget (conferences, training, industry events) - Travel reimbursement for approved networking events and conferences Company Overview - Mobile Commons helps organizations connect with people in moments that matter.
