The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Capital Improvement Program Engineer to join their Engineering Support Division. This role involves reviewing various infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with City, State, and Federal standards, and overseeing QA/QC processes for Public Works projects.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans and studies for various infrastructure related projects, including conceptual design, preliminary engineering reports, geo-technical reports, cost estimate, design calculations and computations, specifications and project manuals
- Oversee consultants performing QA/QC of Public Works CIP projects and coordinate limited QA/QC reviews with other Departments in the City projects affecting Public Works assets
- Prepare project cost estimates
- Perform and/or manage engineering studies
- Contact administration to assure City standards are met
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Experience in reviewing engineering reports, plans, and specifications
- Knowledge of City, State, and Federal standards and specifications
- Ability to perform complex calculations and computations
- Experience with QA/QC processes in engineering projects
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
