Main Street Gardnerville seeks an enthusiastic and organized Community Events & Volunteer Coordinator to assist in planning and executing downtown events and community initiatives.
This part-time position plays an important role in bringing Gardnerville’s downtown to life through signature fundraising events, festivals, and programs, in partnership with local businesses and organizations. The coordinator will assist with event logistics, coordination, volunteer recruitment, and day-of-event operations.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys community engagement, event planning, and working in a collaborative nonprofit environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the planning and execution of Main Street Gardnerville events, which may include:
Third Thursday Wine Walks
We Run This Town 5k run series
Annual Coffin Races and Fall Festival
Día De Los Muertos Festival
Main Street Mondays
I Scream for Main Street – Volunteer Recruitment
Candy Cane Main – Shop Main Street
Responsibilities Include:
Coordinating event vendors and applications
Assisting with event logistics, maps, and supplies
Communicating with vendors and participants
Assisting with event registration systems
Providing on-site event support and coordination
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION:
Recruit and manage volunteers for events and community projects.
Responsibilities Include:
Recruiting Volunteers through outreach and community networks
Maintaining a volunteer contact list and database
Scheduling volunteers for events and projects
Communicating event needs and volunteer assignments
Tracking volunteer participation and hours
EVENT OPERATIONS SUPPORT
Assist with administrative and operational tasks related to events and programs.
Examples Include:
Monitoring event registration and applications
Assisting with event promotion through social media and newsletters
Coordinating event materials, signage, and equipment
Supporting Main Street Gardnerville committees and initiatives as needed.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Strong Organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and event timelines
Experience with event planning, community programs, or non-profit work preferred
Comfortable communicating with volunteers, vendors, and community partners
Familiarity with social media and basic online platforms
Familiarity with Canva and/ or Adobe Illustrator
Positive, outgoing personality with strong teamwork skills
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK OCCASIONAL EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS.
