Procurement & Materials Planning Lead
Location: Remote
Reports To: Sr. Director, Procurement
Role Overview
Owns the execution of procurement across the full company portfolio, ensuring raw materials, packaging, and supplies are sourced to support production while aligning with inventory targets, safety stock policies, and supplier constraints. Responsible for supplier coordination, purchase order management, and maintaining optimal inventory levels, while ensuring materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Partners closely with Supply Chain to ensure production plans and logistics are feasible and executable based on material availability, balancing cost efficiency, quality, and supply reliability to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution
- Execute day-to-day procurement execution across raw materials
- Manage supplier confirmations, delivery schedules, and order tracking
- Expedite or adjust orders to mitigate material shortages or risks
- Ensure accurate system transactions and ERP data integrity
Supplier Management & Sourcing Support
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Monitor supplier performance and delivery reliability
- Analyze supplier quotes and support cost negotiations
- Assist in onboarding and evaluating new suppliers
- Escalate supplier risks and coordinate mitigation plans
Material Planning (Raw & Packaging)
- Translate production plans into material requirements (MRP)
- Own material plan for raw materials and packaging
- Ensure alignment between production schedules and material availability
- Monitor inventory health (shortages, excess, slow-moving items)
Cross Functional Partnership
- Partner with S&OP to align on production feasibility
- Align with Logistics on inbound material timing and constraints
- Communicate material availability risks and impacts across stakeholders
- Support coordination with external suppliers and internal teams to ensure execution
Process Improvement
- Identify gaps in material planning and procurement execution
- Improve material planning processes (ordering logic, lead times, constraints)
- Drive improvements in ERP usage, data accuracy, and reporting
- Standardize material planning processes and ways of working
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience in procurement, material planning, or supply planning
- CPG or food & beverage experience preferred
- Experience managing suppliers and procurement processes
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth, evolving environments
- Strong analytical capability, with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive actionable insights
- Demonstrates an ownership mindset by taking full accountability for outcomes, not just task completion
