Muller Engineering Company is seeking a qualified Design Engineer to join their growing Traffic Engineering Group, focusing on impactful transportation projects across Colorado. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop traffic signal and control plans, while providing outstanding client service and conducting safety-focused planning efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop traffic signal plans, signal and marking plans, construction traffic control plans, traffic design, and ITS plans for transportation facilities - including interstates, interchanges, urban arterials, rural roadways, and multimodal facilities
- Provide outstanding client service by applying planning experience and knowledge with/focus on conducting road safety audits, safe streets for all plans and other safety-focused planning efforts
- Assist mid-level and senior engineers in preparation of studies, reports, and design packages for a wide variety of traffic engineering and projects
- Assist with traffic operations and conducting safety projects and studies including traffic signal timing, microsimulation modeling, multimodal planning, and safety studies
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish
- Perform field observation work when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a similar engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
- 0 – 3 years of experience in transportation/traffic engineering
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
- A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment and creating designs that support our client's overall project goals
- A master's degree in Traffic or Transportation Engineering
- Knowledge of and experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering
- Knowledge of and experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler or VISSIM
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification in Colorado or another state
