Overview
The Director of Patient Accounting is responsible for planning, policy, and implementation of all functions relating to the financial goals of Patient Accounting and Collections including insurance billing, insurance follow-up, patient collection, customer service, managed care underpayment, recoveries, correspondence, scanning of documents, management of credit balances, administration of the Sentara charity and indigent assistance program, AR reporting and cash posting. This responsibility includes all corporate compliance relating to billing and collection services. The Director of Patient Accounting is responsible for third party relationships affecting Patient Accounting, including free clinics, managed care contracting and managed care payer relationships. This responsibility also includes screening, selecting, managing and reporting results of third-party vendors that are participating in any revenue cycle activities. The Director is responsible for the design, development and implementation of process improvement systems, operation enhancement tools and control reports for all revenue cycle departments as well as the control and management of department budgets..
