What You'll Do
The E-commerce Website Specialist is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations, technical health, and maintenance of the BikesOnline USA Shopify Plus store. You will act as the bridge between technical developers and business stakeholders, lead site improvements, manage app integrations, and ensure a seamless, high-converting shopping experience.
This is a hands on 20hrs per week contracting arrangement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Technical Management & Maintenance
- Site Health: Monitor uptime, speed, and performance across all devices and browsers; troubleshoot and resolve bugs.
- Security: Implement and maintain security protocols, SSL certificates, and firewalls to protect customer data.
- Maintain our US Shopify instance & third-party app integrations
- Coding Updates: Perform both front and back end updates.
- Understand the business requirements and determine the appropriate solution to optimize user experience, conversion rate, business metrics.
- Lead user acceptance testing across all mobile & PC platforms to ensure new features work before going live.
- Maintain a "single source of truth" for site architecture, login credentials, and process guides
Project Management & Optimization
- Roadmap Planning: Prioritize new features and site improvements based on business goals and ROI.
- Agile Coordination: Manage "sprints" for site updates, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- CRO & Testing: Design and execute A/B tests to improve the customer journey and increase conversion rates.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Translate technical requirements into clear updates for senior leadership and marketing teams.
- Partner with our category management and merchandising team to optimize category pages, product pages, reviews, and product recommendations.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to launch new products, seasonal promotions, and landing pages
Research and Development
- Analyze our website traffic data and sales to find opportunities for conversion rate optimization. Support our marketing & growth team with a/b testing and continuous improvement of our sales funnel.
- Research the ecommerce and technology market to discover new apps and technologies that can be applied to our website to improve our ecommerce performance and processes.
- Carry out rigorous testing to prove uplift in performance.
Website Performance
- Daily monitoring of site analytics to find areas where we can improve the speed and performance of the website.
- Support our head of technology on process creation & workflow documentation
AI automation
- Support our Solutions Architect with API integrations & AI automation of workflows
What You'll Have
- Qualifications in Computer Science, IT, Web Development, Digital Marketing or relevant field.
- 5+ years as a full stack developer or website manager, specifically in an ecommerce environment.
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Shopify Liquid
- Profiency in Python, Java, or PHP combined with SQL/noSQL database skills
- Experience building or supporting AI-driven or agentic solutions (e.g. Claude Code, OpenClaw) is highly regarded
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders
Tools & Tech Experience
- Analytics & optimisation tools such as Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, Hotjar, Intelligems, UserTesting, Powermeter (or similar)
- Shopify Plus experience
- Third-party systems such as Brightpearl, Stamped, Freshdesk, Rebuy, Redo
- Project management tools such as Asana
- Collaboration tools including Slack, Gmail, Miro, and Figma
- Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
