About Our Company and the Role

As an Entry-Level GIS Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of geographic data used for a wide range of applications, from urban planning to emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain GIS data using ESRI and custom GIS software, focusing on street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers.
- Evaluate, edit, and check graphics and attributes of various data layers using custom map production tools.
- Perform revisions and edits of GIS drawings and files according to instructions provided by supervisors.
- Manage additions or deletions of highlighted boundary or shape files as required.
- Maintain live spatial data in a secured environment, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Edit, modify, and create various data layers as part of your daily tasks.
- Work with customized data automation tools and procedures to maintain daily production schedules.
- Collaborate with team members, sharing GIS knowledge and expertise to enhance team performance.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- A Certificate in GIS or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Coursework or experience with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop), Arc View, and AutoCAD Map.
- Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography, surveying, and drafting is desirable.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:
- Internships or experience in GIS-related projects.
- Experience with ArcSDE, ArcIMS, cartography, imagery, and understanding of databases.
- Previous work in a team environment where sharing GIS knowledge with other team members was required.
