Requirements
The Estimator II is responsible for independently preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for project scopes. This role demonstrates strong technical knowledge, evaluates vendor bids, conducts site reviews, and supports proposal development while mentoring junior estimators.
What You’ll Do
· Develop accurate construction estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documents and performing detailed quantity takeoffs.
· Lead the RFQ and bid evaluation process, including issuing bid packages, analyzing subcontractor/vendor proposals, and negotiating competitive pricing.
· Prepare conceptual, budget, and detailed project estimates while identifying cost and schedule risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
· Manage proposal and bid deliverables, including project schedules, scopes of work, clarifications, cash-flow projections, and schedules of values (SOV).
· Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Safety, and Project Management) to support project planning, analyze historical cost data, and mentor junior estimators.
What You Bring
· Education & Experience - Associate or bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 3–7 years of estimating experience, preferably in renewable energy or electrical construction.
· Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of construction processes, electrical systems, and renewable energy components.
· Estimating Expertise - Advanced ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and estimating documents and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
· Communication & Collaboration - Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
· Software Proficiency - Skilled in Microsoft Office; experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or other estimating software preferred.
· Physical & Travel Requirements - Ability to perform primarily sedentary office work, occasionally navigate active job sites, and travel as needed for business operations.
