**Job Summary**
We're seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Customer Service Specialist to join our Admissions Office team on a part-time basis. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and coordination of services. You'll work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and efficient care.
**Responsibilities**
As a Customer Service Specialist, you'll be responsible for:
* Providing complete and accurate patient scheduling, registration, and insurance verification services
* Coordinating and communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals during increased volumes or complex situations
* Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
* Supporting inbound and outbound calls to or from patients, guests, or appropriate parties to provide services
* Effectively managing general patient complaints and concerns in a professional manner
* Understanding and supporting Point of Service Collections
* Referring patients to appropriate personnel for questions regarding collections, insurance coverages, and financial assistance
* Disseminating information to patients regarding co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, pre-appointment preparation, arrival times, and other relevant details
* Verifying patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information
* Performing required referral authorization processes and entering orders for applicable tests
* Understanding insurance company coverage and referral authorization requirements of payors
* Preparing and releasing records or orders in the e-Health record
* Scanning necessary documents into the medical record and sending pertinent information to document imaging or health information management teams
* Completing documentation for compliance and regulatory needs and releasing orders
* Retaining knowledge and abiding by all regulatory requirements pertaining to duties of position and overall operations
* Screening and accurately relaying messages using established protocols for emergent, urgent, and non-urgent calls
* Demonstrating ability to register unscheduled patients requiring full financial clearance
* Completing assigned patient scheduling and registration work queues according to performance standards
* Resolving work queue issues and missing registration items via electronic medical record
**Requirements**
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* High School Diploma or equivalent GED
* One year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization
* One year of experience with basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment
* Valid driver's license (for Regional Positions only)
**Preferred Qualifications**
* One year of registration experience, Point of Service Collection, insurance validation, understanding of compliance regulatory guidelines, and order release processes
* One year of prior experience in Revenue Cycle in a Hospital Medical Office Setting
* Previous Epic or equivalent Electronic Medical Record experience
