About the Role
The Data Engineer position within blithequark's Operations Analysis and Performance (OAP) department is a key role that involves curating Single Source of Truth data tables, generating and distributing automated reporting, and leading efforts to transition to modern data and reporting tools. As a Data Engineer, you'll work closely with analytics teams to ensure seamless data processing and management, driving business growth and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Locate and extract data from various sources for use in analysis, models, and project development.
- Clean and curate datasets by studying new data sources and collaborating with different business units to determine the best source of data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance automated reports and analyses in support of divisional leaders and business units.
- Leverage emerging technologies to proactively identify efficient and meaningful ways to communicate data and analysis.
- Support strategy development and project management engagements for individual business units and cross-divisional initiatives.
- Train and mentor other team members in various skills and subjects.
- Practice protection-aware behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Demonstrate a team-first mindset, prioritizing the success of the team and business partners.
- Be intellectually curious, asking questions and communicating ideas.
- Experience working in high-profile environments with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and competitive deadlines.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- 3+ years of associated experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns.
- Proficiency with Python, SAS, or other comparable tools and programming languages.
- Ability to troubleshoot a reporting database environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously, managing multiple requests with varying timelines.
- Self-starter with a resilient, solution-minded approach to complex problems.
- Consistently prioritizes protection and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, or other applicable quantitative field.
- Previous airline experience or knowledge of the industry.
- Working knowledge of and/or experience with cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, GPC, etc.).
