Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly support to and maintain positive associations with all internal and external customers.
- Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our organization.
- Handle data entry tasks, including tagging and registration, boarding, baggage service, reservations, and resolving related objections and issues.
- Manage cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons as forms of payment for tickets.
- Calculate charges, make change, and balance daily transactions.
- Check in baggage and freight, answer phone calls to provide information to guests, page clients, resolve issues or complaints, and assist on a case-by-case basis.
- Handle transactions required to load the aircraft in a timely, efficient way.
- Manage upset customers due to oversales, delayed or canceled flights, lost, delayed, or damaged baggage.
- Provide current and accurate admission, schedule, reservations, flight arrival/departure information, and answer general inquiries from customers and other airport visitors.
- Complete forms and reports as required by the organization.
- Write anomaly and complaint reports as necessary.
- Perform other work-related tasks as directed by management.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to type and/or use a computer keyboard with adequate speed to meet the needs of the job.
- Able to read reports, follow directions, learn, and understand tagging procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Capacity to work with others as part of a team, meet the public, and work under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to complete the Customer Service Specialist training program with an 80% or higher average and an evaluation period.
- Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies as they arise.
- Ability to work under tight time constraints to achieve quick turns of aircraft.
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Ground Activities Worker Handbook and Work Arrangement.
- Ability to perform all job functions within a confined space.
- Effective verbal communication skills by phone, in-person, and on public address systems.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to convey information and instructions verbally or via radio equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Previous experience in a customer service or data entry role.
- Ability to speak a foreign language (desirable but not required).
