Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education, ensuring alignment with State and District curriculum guidelines.
- Plan and implement a program of study that meets the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students, utilizing available resources and data from various educational sources.
- Identify students with special learning needs and develop strategies to support their academic success.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and self-worth.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress, behavioral issues, and other relevant matters.
- Maintain accurate records, make necessary reports, and adhere to contractual agreements and State law.
- Pursue opportunities for professional growth and development, staying current with best practices in elementary education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration to meet the needs of students and the school community.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
- Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Elementary Education.
- Possess Special Education Certification (preferred).
- Demonstrate the physical ability to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday, with minimum lifting requirements of 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Exhibit the ability to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.
