Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Remote Director to join our team and lead the live creation of remote games and events. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for coordinating the technical aspects of live broadcasts, working closely with schools and colleges to ensure seamless integration and collaboration. Your expertise will be essential in driving the creative and technical direction of our live remote game broadcasts, and you will play a critical role in shaping the overall viewer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to schools on all aspects of TV production, drawing on your extensive experience in truck, AP, and promotion roles, as well as your knowledge of technical under-the-line jobs.
- Liaise with school creation partners to provide constructive feedback on student-produced content and ensure that it meets industry standards.
- Visit school creation partner campuses to assess equipment, discuss and recommend industry-standard production procedures, and provide a channel for guidance for school administrative staff.
- Design, coordinate, and execute live productions of live remote games, accurately documenting assigned events.
- Pursue on-the-spot decisions regarding what images and sounds will be broadcast, interpreting data and information to make informed decisions about shots, elements, and arrangements.
- Work with the Maker and Tasks team to determine camera placement at each setting, designing and executing the capture of desired shots, live-to-tape assemblies, and sequences of shots.
- Collaborate with design professionals to integrate all elements in a broadcast, including graphics, augmented reality components, switcher effects, composite music, and more.
- Coordinate technical teams and consultants assigned to remote events, conducting production and technical meetings to define team responsibilities and establish expectations for the team for any given live remote game.
- Partner with the Running division to assign production technical teams for allocated live events, providing post-event feedback and analysis to the Event Activities team and the Manning office on assigned team members.
- Conduct research on teams, players, storylines, trends, and more to stay informed on each game/sport assigned.
- Provide guidance to live talent before broadcasts and guide them as needed during broadcasts.
- Make on-the-spot adjustments to inclusion designs as unexpected circumstances and valuable opportunities arise.
- Investigate, on-the-spot, operational issues that arise during assigned live remote games.
- Ensure that all advertisements and promotions for all assigned productions are accurately embedded.
- Participate in the development of ideas and content for assigned games to reach viewers and increase market penetration and viewership.
- For assigned live remote games, interface with and communicate as needed with groups, associations, school/college staff, coaches, players, and more.
- Maintain continuous communication with external resources, e.g., talent, production companies, to provide necessary services, equipment, and components, resources, parts, and data for assigned live remote games.
Essential Capabilities
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Knowledge of the continuous live game coordinating cycles.
- The ability to clearly and succinctly communicate with all team members during the live broadcast.
- Knowledge of the technical equipment associated with coordinating live remote games.
- Expertise in live remote game coordinating.
- Knowledge of sports history.
Preferred Capabilities
- Understanding of the financial implications of coordinating live remote games.
- Interest in popular culture, e.g., "what's cool" and helping to define the preferences of ESPN's viewers.
- Understanding of the market positioning and strategies of assigned games.
- Travel required.
