About Y&H Soda Foundation

Y&H Soda Foundation has a rich history in the East Bay, where our founders lived and worked. Based on their intent and legacy, our grantmaking has always been focused on improving the lives of low-income families in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Initially, the Foundation funded a variety of non-profit organizations doing exceptional work in our communities. However, starting in 2010, we became more focused in our efforts, primarily partnering with organizations helping families earn a living wage, save for the future, and become active community participants. Additionally, more recent events have driven us to reimagine our work and how best to support low-income people in our community, primarily people of color and immigrants. Based on our founders' values and Catholic Social Teaching, we are striving to create an equitable East Bay where everyone thrives, belongs, contributes to the common good, and participates in shaping the future. We recently completed a new strategic plan that centers equity at the core of all that we do. As we work to advance equity in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, we will focus our resources going forward in two areas: Economic Justice and Immigrant Rights and Inclusion.

Job Summary

The Program Officer will implement our new strategies in Immigrant Rights and Inclusion, to create an East Bay that values immigrants and protects their rights. Policy advocacy will be the primary tool that we fund to foster local government commitment to immigrant well-being and inclusion. We also anticipate funding programs and initiatives that build immigrant power and advance a welcoming narrative. The ideal candidate will be a leader in the immigrant rights and inclusion space, with experience designing, delivering, and/or evaluating programs and policies that improve the well-being of immigrants. They will serve as the Foundation's primary expert in immigrant rights and inclusion, identifying and screening prospective grant investments, recommending new grants and collaborations to reach our impact goals, while building relationships with grantee and sector leaders.
