About the Information Adventures Team
Information Adventures is a nimble startup-like team within Walmart that's building a top-tier suite of data products to deliver significant, customer-driven insights and help suppliers and vendors make better business decisions on omni-channel 360 performance. As a Senior Data Analyst on this team, you'll play a critical role in uncovering business insights and driving results working closely with the Product and Data Science teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Embrace business data requirements and analyze business systems and processes to identify the most suitable data sources for business purposes.
- Support the identification and application of statistical methods based on requirements, aid in the design, planning, and execution of exploratory data analysis research projects.
- Translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks, and create specific deliverables. Identify suitable techniques/tools to be used to provide a solution to the problem, working closely with Data Scientists.
- Produce appropriate graphical representations of data and model results. Understand customer requirements to design suitable data representation for various datasets.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- A passion for problem-solving, with an analytical mindset and strong critical thinking skills.
- Experience working with large datasets, finding insights, and telling stories using data.
- Ability to work with massive data and write code and queries in SQL, Python/R for data analysis.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Database technologies and distributed data stores (e.g., SQL, NoSQL), as well as Big Data and Cloud technologies like GCP BQ.
- Experience with visualization tools and best practices, such as Looker, PowerBI, and others.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as a Master's or Ph.D.
- Experience working in a retail or e-commerce environment.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
