We are a bootstrapped early-stage startup building a high-performance Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platform providing core infrastructure services including compute, networking, storage, and managed infrastructure services such as databases. Our platform will leverage AWS EC2 and related services as the underlying infrastructure while focusing on performance, developer experience, and efficient infrastructure management. We are looking for an experienced cloud infrastructure / IaaS strategy consultant to help develop a founder-focused business plan, market analysis, and competitive positioning strategy to support launching and scaling the platform. This engagement focuses on strategy, market research, and infrastructure business modeling (not engineering implementation). Scope of Work 1. Business Plan & Infrastructure Strategy Develop a practical business plan and infrastructure strategy covering: Ideal customer profiles (developers, startups, AI companies, enterprises) Infrastructure service packaging: Compute Networking Storage Managed databases Pricing and monetization strategy (usage-based cloud pricing) Infrastructure unit economics and margin considerations Go-to-market strategy for developer-focused infrastructure platforms Key infrastructure business metrics: Unit economics Infrastructure margins Customer acquisition cost (CAC) Retention and expansion Milestone-based roadmap for launching and scaling the platform 2. Market Opportunity Analysis Develop market estimates and analysis including: TAM / SAM / SOM for cloud infrastructure (IaaS) Segmentation across compute, networking, storage, and managed services Trends in developer and enterprise infrastructure adoption Growth in high-performance and specialized cloud platforms Market risks, cost pressures, and infrastructure economics Key drivers of demand in modern cloud platforms 3. Competitive Analysis Provide structured analysis of direct and indirect competitors, including: Hyperscale cloud providers Developer-focused infrastructure platforms Emerging infrastructure startups Analysis should include: Feature comparisons Pricing positioning Target customer segments Differentiation opportunities Strategic positioning recommendations Timeline Estimated engagement: 5–7 weeks Milestone-based deliverables with progress updates. Final deliverable: comprehensive strategy document with supporting research and models. Ideal Candidate Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, IaaS providers, or developer platforms Background in cloud market research, infrastructure economics, or platform strategy Experience analyzing cloud pricing models (compute, networking, storage, databases) Experience creating business plans or strategy documents for SaaS or infrastructure startups Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or developer platforms is strongly preferred.
