The IT Support Technician will be responsible for assessing and recommending hardware and software configurations, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical assistance to end users. This role involves direct interaction with users to resolve problems and maintain effective working relationships with vendors.
Responsibilities
- Inspect PC equipment, set up and test PCs and peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, printers, wireless accessories
- Prepare PCs for delivery and installation at users work center or shop floor
- Install, maintain and support operating system software, including the determination of errors and the application of corrections, as necessary
- Provide first and second level of trouble-shooting in resolving problems
- Use ticketing software to document and escalate issues to additional support teams
- Maintain good working relationships with manufacturing vendors and support providers
- Coordinate the work of vendor representatives assisting in system maintenance or upgrades
- Diagnose system hardware, software, and operator problems
- Recommend or perform minor remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operations
- Work with IT management to provide proper levels of customer service based on customer needs
- Work with remote users across corporate environment to provide support with various remote-control software
- Practice effective time management and prioritization of tasks
- Work with support personnel in all areas of IT including Networks, Programming, Systems, and Analysis for issue resolution and continuous improvement
- Develop policies and procedures that outline how problems are identified, documented, assigned, and corrected
- Attend technical conferences, formal training classes, and seminars to keep abreast of new hardware and software product developments
- Must be able to work flexible hours to assist with computer maintenance and upgrades
Skills
- Knowledge of computer hardware and configurations required
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience required
- High school or GED required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, MS Windows, iOS
- 2 Year / Associate Degree preferred
