SUMMARY The main goal of the Junior Underwriter is to work as the liaison between the Broker and Underwriting to meet the stipulations put on loan by Underwriter Role and Responsibilities Other duties not listed here may also be assigned: • On a daily basis receive files from Underwriting and review the conditions required by Underwriting. • Collect and review the conditions as submitted by the Broker to ensure we provide proper information Underwriting will need to process the request. • Correct any errors on the file in Avista and re-run the AUS/1003. Double check for compliance and re-disclose GFE and TIL as needed. Resubmit the file to Underwriting for review. • Collect and review the required closing documents (RCDS) from Broker. Ensure closing request has been completed in Avista. • After file has been cleared to close and RCDS are correct and uploaded, place file in closing. Assist Closer and Broker in resolving any problems that should arise at closing. • On a weekly basis follow up on any loans in the pipeline for status updates. • Daily print files as needed to send to THDA and RD. • By the 5th of each month, update/complete any “Denied”, “Cancelled” or “Withdrawn” files in the system. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Requirements following are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED; plus 1- 3 years experience in mortgage lending required. Must have a clear understanding of HMDA, REGZ, RESPA, MDIA and all other compliance for mortgage lending. Additionally, the LAM must be familiar with state regulations such as Section 32, Section 35 and maximum fees allowed. SYSTEM/EQUIPMENT SKILLS Ability to use Microsoft Office Excel and Word at intermediate level. Able to send and receive emails. Able to use a calculator to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages. ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS Able to multi task in a fast-paced environment. Must keep records neat and organized to ensure clear representation of work. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required for this position.
