About the role
As a Junior Analytics Engineer at The Guestbook, you’ll support the delivery of clear, reliable reporting by building and maintaining Tableau dashboards and assisting with analytics modeling work. You’ll work day-to-day with the Business Analyst, translating defined business requirements into high-quality dashboards and reports, and partnering with Data Engineering on light dbt model updates and fixes. This role sits within the Analytics & Accounting team and is ideal for someone early in their analytics engineering career who enjoys dashboard building, strong SQL work, and learning how modeled data supports business decision-making.
What you'll do
Reporting & Dashboards
• Build, enhance, and maintain Tableau dashboards for Finance, Partner Success, and Product reporting.
• Implement dashboard requirements defined by the Business Analyst.
• Contribute to clear, executive-ready views for weekly ops, monthly close, and planning.
• Create calculated fields, LOD expressions, and reusable dashboard components.
Business Metrics & Data Validation
• Implement and validate metric logic defined by the Business Analyst.
• Validate Tableau outputs against BigQuery and dbt models.
• Investigate anomalies and surface discrepancies to the Business Analyst and Data Engineering.
• Assist with metric documentation and QA.
Analytics Engineering
• Make small updates and corrections to existing dbt models following established patterns.
• Build or modify simple, reporting-driven staging or intermediate models as needed.
• Run and interpret dbt tests, helping identify data quality issues.
• Partner with the Senior Data Engineer for reviews and guidance.
Collaboration
• Report directly to the Business Analyst, working closely on reporting priorities and delivery.
• Collaborate with the Senior Data Engineer on dbt-related changes and best practices.
• Support reporting needs for Finance, Partner Success, and Product teams as dashboards evolve.
What you’ll bring to The Guestbook
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in reporting, analytics, or business intelligence.
• Strong Tableau fundamentals (dashboard design, calculated fields).
• Solid SQL skills and comfort validating data.
• Experience working with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery preferred).
• Comfort working from defined requirements and asking questions when unclear.
• Ability to build reports and dashboards that translate data into clear, decision-ready insights for business stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and interest in learning analytics engineering best practices.
Nice to Haves
• Exposure to dbt or interest in learning analytics engineering workflows, including working with modeled datasets.
• Familiarity with hospitality, travel, or SaaS metrics.
• Experience working with ELT tools (Fivetran, Stitch, etc.).
• Experience with AI-assisted reporting or automated insights tools.
Expectations & Working Hours
• This is a part-time role averaging ~20 hours per week.
• Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday, primarily between 8:00am and 5:00pm Pacific Time, to support collaboration with the team.
• Hours are flexible within the workweek, but the role requires regular availability for collaboration, including standups, working sessions, and ad hoc questions with the Business Analyst and analytics partners.
• Work will generally be planned and prioritized in advance, with the expectation that priorities may occasionally shift based on business needs or reporting deadlines.
• This role is currently scoped as a part-time position. Any future changes to scope or hours would be based on business needs.
Pay
• $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience
