Job description First Look We are seeking a lead growth writer with a proven track record of driving 5M+ monthly pageviews to identify and scale high-traffic opportunities across our network. Your goal is to act as a scout: primarily writing articles and using a small editorial budget to find the winning formula of topic and title, then handing the "business in a box" over to our editorial teams to scale.  The Mission- Aggressive Testing: Write content experiments to find high-ceiling traffic opportunities focused on Google Discover. - The "Win" Formula: Identify specific title/topic combinations that yield a high Return on Audience (ROD). - Budget Management: Use a nimble editorial budget to produce content and gather immediate performance data. - The Handoff: Package successful "lanes" into actionable blueprints for our EPs to take over and produce regular content. The Profile- Motor: You have a motor that makes Lawrence Taylor look slow. - Data-Obsessed: You don’t guess what works; you let the traffic stats tell the story. - Headline Savant: You understand the psychology of the click across different platforms. - Builder Mentality: You enjoy the "zero-to-one" phase of finding a niche more than the day-to-day management of one. - Efficiency: You move fast, fail cheaply, and double down on winners instantly. The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $150,000 – $200,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees. Job requirements What You’ll Bring: - Strong experience in digital publishing, audience growth, and editorial strategy - Deep understanding of Google Discover - Proven ability to identify high-performing content patterns and traffic opportunities - Exceptional headline writing and audience psychology instincts - Broad and deep knowledge across sports, finance, entertainment, fast food, and other niches - Highly analytical mindset with comfort interpreting traffic metrics - Entrepreneurial mindset with enthusiasm for building new content lanes from scratch - Ability to move quickly, test ideas rapidly, and iterate based on real-time performance - Strong communication skills to translate insights into actionable editorial strategies - A motor capable of consistently producing 40+ stories a day Job responsibilities What You’ll Do Identify New Audience Opportunities - Write articles to test emerging traffic driving “lanes” primarily for Google Discover. - Measure traffic and analyze audience responses to identify untapped traffic opportunities. Run Rapid Content Experiments - Primarily Write (90%) and commission (10%)  test content to evaluate new topics, formats, and headlines. - Deploy fast editorial tests designed to generate immediate performance signals. Measure and Optimize Performance - Track traffic performance, engagement metrics, and audience growth indicators. - Identify patterns that generate strong Return on Audience (ROD) and scalable content opportunities. Develop Repeatable Content Playbooks - Translate successful tests into clear editorial frameworks including topic clusters, headline formulas, and production strategies. - Deliver “business-in-a-box” playbooks that editorial can scale across the network. Manage Experimental Editorial Budget - Allocate a small editorial budget strategically to seed new content experiments. - Optimize spend based on early performance indicators. Act as a Strategic Growth Scout - Continuously scan the digital landscape for new audience opportunities and platform shifts. Serve as an internal resource for identifying the next high-growth editorial category.
