What You'll Do As our Marketing & Design Intern, you'll be the creative force behind our digital presence. You'll design graphics, develop social media strategy and content, refresh our website, and help us tell our story in compelling, beautiful ways. This is real creative work that will be seen by thousands of people in the social impact community. Your responsibilities will include: Graphic Design & Visual Content: - Create eye-catching graphics aligned with our brand for social media posts, job announcements, and campaigns - Design templates for recurring content (job postings, testimonials, tips, etc.) - Develop visual assets for presentations, one-pagers, and client materials - Ensure all designs align with Riverwalker's brand identity and values - Create simple infographics to visualize data or recruitment insights - Design newsletter graphics and email templates Social Media Strategy & Content Development: - Develop social media content plans and calendars (primarily LinkedIn) - Create ready-to-post content including graphics and captions - Write engaging captions that reflect our empathetic, values-driven voice - Plan campaigns around job openings, success stories, industry insights, and thought leadership - Research social media trends relevant to recruitment and social impact - Suggest strategies to grow our audience and increase engagement - Interview founder for additional content ideas and utilize previous content to repurpose Website Support: - Update website content to keep it fresh, accurate, and engaging - Suggest design improvements for better user experience - Create visual elements for new website pages or sections - Help maintain our online portfolio of client success stories - Ensure website reflects our evolving brand and services Brand Development: - Contribute creative ideas for strengthening Riverwalker's visual identity - Help develop brand guidelines and asset libraries - Support special campaigns or initiatives with creative content Who You Are We're looking for someone who's creative, detail-oriented, and excited about using design to advance social impact. You don't need to be a professional designer — you just need a good eye, basic design skills, and the eagerness to learn and grow. You might be a great fit if you: - Have a creative eye and enjoy visual storytelling - Are comfortable using design tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms (we will use Canva) - Write clearly and can craft engaging social media captions - Are organized enough to plan content calendars and think strategically - Pay attention to detail (consistency and quality matter!) - Care about social impact, equity, and mission-driven work - Can work independently in a remote environment while staying connected - Are open to feedback and eager to develop your skills Bonus points if you have: - Experience planning or creating social media content (personal or professional) - Familiarity with website platforms like Squarespace, WordPress, or Wix (we use Squarespace) - Photography or video editing skills - A portfolio or examples of design work (school projects totally count!) - Understanding of accessibility in design (alt text, contrast, readability) - Interest in the nonprofit or social justice sectors What We Offer Working with Riverwalker Talent, you'll: - Build a professional portfolio of design and marketing work in the social impact sector - Gain hands-on experience developing social media strategy and content - Learn how to create on-brand visuals that drive engagement and results - Develop skills in web design and digital communications - See your creative work reach thousands in the talent and social impact community - Work directly with an experienced nonprofit leader and small, collaborative team - Contribute your creativity to work that connects people with meaningful careers We're committed to making this a meaningful experience that strengthens your portfolio and your professional development. Details - Location: Remote (work from anywhere) - Time Commitment: 6-8 hours per week with flexible scheduling - Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment preferred, with potential to extend - Compensation: $18-20/hour depending on experience - Start Date: First week of June 2025 What to Expect - Applications accepted on a rolling basis through April 30th, 2025 - In-depth screening interviews in first two weeks of May - 2nd round interviews (Zoom) mid-to-late May - Possible creative assessment (compensated) - Final interviews in late May - Start date: First week of June 2025 How to Apply To apply please fill out this application. (This can include social media content, graphics, website designs, class projects, or anything that demonstrates your creative skills!)
