[Remote] Senior Computer Vision Scientist

High Trail is seeking a Senior Computer Vision Scientist to lead the design, development, and validation of machine learning and deep learning solutions for medical imaging applications. This role is critical in translating cutting-edge research into production-grade, clinically reliable software. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and optimize computer vision and deep learning models for medical imaging modalities (e.g., MRI, CT, ultrasound, pathology, multimodal data) • Lead development of end-to-end medical imaging applications, including preprocessing pipelines, model training, inference, and post-processing • Apply advanced machine learning techniques (CNNs, transformers, self-supervised learning, etc.) to solve real-world clinical problems • Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, and clinical experts to translate requirements into deployable AI solutions • Own model evaluation and validation, including sensitivity, specificity, ROC/AUC, calibration, robustness testing, and performance analysis • Contribute to data strategy, including dataset curation, annotation workflows, quality control, and bias assessment • Support regulatory-facing activities by producing technical documentation, validation reports, and model explainability artifacts • Stay current with emerging research in computer vision and medical AI, incorporating relevant advancements into production systems • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to technical leadership within the team Skills • PhD or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field • 6+ years of hands-on experience in computer vision and machine learning, with significant experience in medical imaging • Strong expertise in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow • Experience building and deploying production-quality ML systems (beyond research prototypes) • Solid understanding of medical imaging data formats and standards (e.g., DICOM, NIfTI) • Proven ability to work with large, noisy, real-world datasets • Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with C++ is a plus • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous, high-impact environments • Experience working in FDA-regulated or other regulated medical software environments • Familiarity with model interpretability, uncertainty estimation, and calibration in clinical AI systems • Experience with cloud-based ML infrastructure, model deployment, and MLOps practices • Track record of publications or patents in computer vision or medical imaging • Prior experience mentoring or leading technical teams Company Overview • At High Trail we build bespoke teams of elite specialist technology professionals, deployed from our High Trail Verified community.
