We are seeking a talented and experienced Verbatim Court Transcriptionist to join our team as a contractor. Position Overview:
The successful candidate will have the ability to transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions accurately from audio recordings, maintaining a strict verbatim format. Proficiency in identifying speakers and knowledge of QA, Colloquy, and court formatting rules is essential. Experience transcribing large jury trials and AAERT certification are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audio Transcription: Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision, accurately identifying speakers and capturing all spoken content in verbatim format.
- Quality Assurance: Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules, maintaining high transcription standards.
- Colloquy Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language.
- Time Management: Manage 1-3 day turnaround times, meeting deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules.
- AAERT certified applicants will receive premier consideration for the position.
- Q&A and Colloquy Knowledge: Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format.
- Software Proficiency: Competence in using transcription software and Microsoft Office.
- Skills Assessment: Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate abilities.
- Availability: Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day.

- Operating System: Windows 10 or 11
- Software: Office 365, For the Record (transcription software), Express Scribe (transcription software)
- Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication.
- Transcription Pedal: A transcription foot pedal for hands-free control of audio playback during the transcription process.
- Transcription Headphones: High-quality transcription headphones for clear and accurate listening to audio recordings.
