[Remote] X-ray Inspector

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest agencies in the state, responsible for ensuring the health and safety of North Carolinians. The X-ray Inspector will conduct inspections and evaluations of x-ray machines, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain inspection databases. Responsibilities - Ensure the safe use of medical and industrial radiation machines - Conduct inspections, investigations and evaluate multiple types of x-ray machines in various environments - Determine compliance with 10A NCAC 15 North Carolina Regulations for Protection Against Radiation - Prepare reports of inspection findings, track and review data for state compliance - Maintain current inspection and registration databases for assigned region - Serve as a member of the State Emergency Response Team as required by Homeland Security - Conduct audits of radiologic hazards, unsafe practices, incidents and usual occurrences and recommend methods for maintaining radiation dose As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) - Attend continuing education classes and training to maintain current knowledge of radiologic hazards, public safety and agency needs Skills - Bachelor's degree in nuclear science, physical, or environmental science; health/ medical physics, or radiologic science from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Valid North Carolina Driver's License - Documented and demonstrated knowledge of the biological effects, principles and physics of radiation as related to practice standards, and principles of radiation in medicine, industry and education - Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate orally and in written form technical data and inspection findings as related to radiation safety and compliance - Proven experience working with state rules and federal regulations for radiation safety and compliance - Functional knowledge of radiation survey equipment, radiation machines and radiation testing instrumentation - Demonstrated skills for planning and organizing multiple projects with minimum direction, establishing priorities to meet deadlines and proficient with Microsoft applications - Hold a current registration and be in good standing with the American Registry for Radiological Technologist in at minimum Radiology Technology Company Overview - The N.C.
