About the Role
As a Senior Java Engineer II in Claims Technology Management & Data, you will be a crucial member of our engineering staff, working across various disciplines such as Business Services Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering. Your primary goal will be to ensure the delivery of a friction-less experience to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of protection and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
- Collaboration: Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle, ensuring that our technology solutions are aligned with business objectives.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize Java, SOA, Axis, Microservices, Spring Boot, SQL, XML, JSON, NoSQL databases, SOAP UI, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, a variety of Azure tools and services, and modern UI tooling like React.
- Process Improvement: Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams to enhance our operational efficiency.
- Solution Development: Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution, ensuring that our technology meets the needs of our customers.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in software development, with a focus on Java and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have:
Essential Qualifications:
- Programming Experience: At least 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers, and Java).
- Architecture and Design: 2+ years of experience with architecture and design, including the ability to contribute to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
- Cloud Experience: 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service, demonstrating your ability to work in a cloud-based environment.
- Open-Source Frameworks: 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks, showcasing your versatility and adaptability in using various technologies.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth Knowledge: Understanding of Java, SOA, AXIS, Spring Boot, React, SOAP UI, Application Server Concepts, and other relevant technologies.
- Operational Portals: Familiarity with existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal.
- Front-end Development: Understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, and REACT.
- Microservices: Knowledge of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
- Monitoring Tools: Understanding of Monitoring Tools such as Splunk or Application Insights.
- Scripting Skills: Intermediate PowerShell scripting skills.
- Azure Services: Understanding of Azure PaaS and IaaS services.
- DevOps Concepts: Knowledge of DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational Framework.

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $66,000 to $157,000 per annum, depending on your experience and qualifications. In addition to your salary, you will be eligible for a range of benefits, including:
