Tax Consultant Duration: 6–8 weeks Start Date: Immediate / Next Week Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Consultant specializing in Individual and High Net Worth (HNW) taxation to provide short-term coverage during the busy season. This role will focus heavily on complex individual income tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory support for high-net-worth individuals and closely held entities. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage complex returns in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Lead preparation and review of complex Individual and High Net Worth tax returns, including: • Form 1040 (highly complex individual returns) • Multi-state filings • Foreign reporting (FBAR, FATCA, and other applicable disclosures) • Gift and trust returns (Forms 709, 1041, 5227) • Prepare and review flow-through entity returns impacting HNW individuals: • Partnerships (1065, CA 565/568) • S-Corps Related state compliance • Prepare quarterly and annual tax projections and estimated payments for high-income clients • Assist with tax planning strategies for income deferral, estate and gift considerations, and multi-state residency issues • Research complex tax matters and prepare clear, well-documented technical memoranda • Review and file Secretary of State, Franchise Tax Board, gross receipts tax, and business property tax returns • Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy, organization, and client-ready presentation Requirements: • 3+ years of recent experience in public accounting with a strong focus on Individual and High Net Worth tax • Proven experience handling complex 1040s with multiple income streams (investments, pass-through entities, real estate, foreign assets) • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred) • CPA/Big 4 Background highly preferred • Strong understanding of multi-state tax compliance and residency issues • Experience with trust, estate, and gift taxation preferred • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
