Ithaca College, nestled in the picturesque Finger Lakes region of New York, invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance. As part of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, the Department of Theatre is committed to providing conservatory-style training alongside a broad liberal arts education, preparing students for successful careers in the performing arts.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of acting courses at the undergraduate level, from introductory to advanced classes, and coordinate intimacy staging in productions and classes as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acting and a secondary area of expertise in at least two of the following: audition techniques/career preparation, stage combat, acting for the camera, movement for the stage, integrated voice and movement, voice and speech, or directing. Ongoing scholarly, creative, and professional activity is expected and supported, with opportunities to contribute to the department's production season as a stage director.
A terminal degree in an appropriate or related discipline (such as an MFA in acting, performance, or directing) is required. A current record of professional activity and demonstrable potential for successful college-level teaching within the context of an interdisciplinary and immersive liberal arts education is preferred. Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess, or are on a pathway towards, certification as an intimacy professional.

The Department of Theatre is housed within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, and offers a range of degree programs, including four B.F.A. pre-professional programs (acting, musical theatre, stage management, and theatre production & design), a B.S. in theatre administration, a B.A. in theatre studies, and minors in Theater or Dance. Our robust production season includes plays, musicals, dance, and opera in three venues housed in the Dillingham Center for the Performing Arts.
