Job Description
Thomson Reuters is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Copy Editing Assistant to join our content team. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of our diverse range of editorial content, including legal, tax, and news publications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style guides, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for polished prose.
Key Responsibilities
• Reviewing and editing various types of content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors.
• Ensuring adherence to internal style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style) and legal/industry-specific terminology.
• Fact-checking and verifying information where necessary to maintain accuracy.
• Collaborating with authors, editors, and subject matter experts to clarify content and suggest improvements.
• Assisting with proofreading layouts and digital publications before final release.
• Managing multiple editing projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Providing constructive feedback and contributing to style guide enhancements.
Required Skills
• Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Proficiency with major style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, AP Style).
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to editing.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Basic understanding of content management systems (CMS).
