Remote Epidemiologist for South Carolina Department of Health (EST Time Zone Required)
Contract Length: 13–20 weeks (dependent on need)
Hours: 30–50 hours/week
Schedule: Must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed (overtime available)
Pay Rate: $31.74/hr
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Remote Epidemiologist to support public health initiatives through timely disease surveillance, case investigations, and data-driven analysis. This role is fully remote; however, candidates must reside in the Eastern Standard Time zone to meet operational needs and collaborate effectively with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct disease or case investigations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation
• Perform surveillance activities, analyze public health data, and support outbreak response
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify trends, mitigate risks, and support public health decision-making
• Prepare clear, concise reports and summaries for internal and external partners
• Work flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or a related field
• 1 year of previous Epidemiologist related work
• Experience in disease investigation or case investigation (public health, clinical, or government setting preferred)
• Residency in the EST time zone
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

• 13–20 week contract depending on program needs
• 30–50 hours per week with overtime pay provided
