Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Physical Education Teacher to join our team at KIPP Northstar. As a Physical Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in helping our students develop the physical skills and confidence they need to succeed in life. You will be responsible for planning and executing high-quality daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement, as well as building and supporting a school-wide culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
- Create and teach highly rigorous and engaging lessons in the elective area of Physical Education
- Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping
- Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
- Create a classroom environment that is warm and demanding
- Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a high level of professionalism
- Perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned and attend all staff meetings
- With support from school leaders, use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction
- Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with School Leaders and other school faculty within KIPP Minnesota
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the educational field
- Required: MN teaching license in Physical Education
- Desired: Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction
- Desired: Strong classroom management skills
- Desired: Effective communication skills
- Desired: Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Desired: Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional methods
- Ability to create engaging and challenging lessons for students of varying skill levels
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
