Job Overview
The primary function of the Field Service Support Engineer will be to provide direct support to field service technicians, handling complex troubleshooting, commissioning, new startups, dead checks, or remote diagnostics. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, finance, training, and IT teams to improve processes, increase efficiency, and take Tesla Energy's operations to the next level. Additionally, you will be available for on-site support as needed for significant advancements or emergency response situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the EHS&S team on safety requirements for working on Balance of Plant equipment
- Communicate and lead project requirements, status, and results to various stakeholders
- Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting objectives and deadlines
- Identify areas for internal process improvement to enhance fleet performance and functionality
- Identify root causes of complex maintenance challenges and develop solutions to present to a non-technical audience
- Provide support to field service technicians for the proper operation of Balance of Plant equipment for shutdown and startup
- Assist field service technicians with proper verification of equipment de-energized and Electrical Safety checks
- Provide on-site support for complex jobs that require expert knowledge of troubleshooting and repair
- Gather feedback from the field service team on issues and processes that require improvements
- Improve field service MV training, documentation, and product knowledge databases
- Provide MV training and certification to technicians and electricians in the field
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2+ years of experience working with Balance of Plant equipment
- Comprehensive knowledge of Electrical Safety, NFPA 70e, and OSHA, including Arc Flash Requirements and PPE
- High proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Ability to travel up to 2 weeks at a time
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Additional pre-employment driving and drug screens may be required based on job responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Experience working in the energy industry, particularly with electric vehicles or renewable energy systems
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Experience with data analysis and reporting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
