About the Role
As a Data Science Student Intern, you will play a critical role in assisting our team with data analysis, modeling, and problem-solving. You will work closely with our professionals to analyze complex data sets, develop predictive models, and provide insights that inform business decisions. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Query and analyze large datasets from various sources to identify trends and patterns
- Perform exploratory data analysis and develop predictive models using Python and SQL
- Design and implement data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to solve complex problems
- Develop and present a summary of your work to Operations Research and Business leaders at the end of the internship
- Contribute to the development of best practices in data science and operations research
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Qualifications:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 and completion of at least 2 years in a college program
- Degree emphasis in Information Science, Information Analysis/Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Availability to work the entire 13-week summer internship program (May 13 - August 9, 2024)
- Ability to work from the Atlanta or MSP office (with some flexibility for remote work)
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Strong analytical, leadership, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- High school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
- At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the US
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis
- Familiarity with AWS and AI model development
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
