Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced and visionary Director, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science to join our team and drive strategic business solutions and omnichannel innovation across Walgreens Boots Alliance. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll oversee a team that implements data science and advanced analytics capabilities and platforms, and play a critical role in designing and implementing new platforms to drive and realize our data strategy. Key Responsibilities
As our Director, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, you'll be responsible for:
- Utilizing statistical modeling and other data science techniques for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analyses to drive business decisions and growth.
- Interpreting and applying complex data insights to improve products and processes, and presenting findings to business audiences to inform strategic decisions.
- Setting the vision for manipulation and analysis of large and complex data sets, and directing the development and delivery of statistical and mathematical analyses to support business decisions.
- Directing the design and development of new or complex algorithms and statistical predictive models, and determining analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes.
- Leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop unprecedented solutions that drive business growth and innovation.
- Guiding and mentoring a wide range of audiences, including direct reports, peers, and senior management, to ensure the successful implementation of data science and analytics initiatives.
- Implementing policies and defining approaches to strategy achievement for specified areas of responsibility, and analyzing long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.
- Managing budgets, operational plans, and performance requirements for the specified area of responsibility, and meeting budgetary goals and objectives.
- Facilitating communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within and outside of the organization, and sharing complex information related to areas of expertise.
About You
We're looking for a seasoned data science professional with a strong background in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline. You should have:
- A Master's degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, economics, or a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline, and at least 6 years of post-graduate professional work experience in a statistical function.
- Deep knowledge of open-source data science and statistics packages, such as Python, R, Spark, etc.
- Experience in data science, advanced analytics, or statistics, with the ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences.
- Deep knowledge of SQL and experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders within a matrix organization.
- Experience presenting findings to all levels of an organization, including the C-Suite level, and contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, or cross-functional team leadership experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
A graduate degree in a quantitative, computational, or technical discipline is preferred.
