Job Summary
As a Health Fitness Professional - Substitute, you'll play a vital role in driving the success of our fitness programs and services. You'll work closely with our team to coordinate, implement, and deliver health and fitness improvement initiatives, fitness center promotions, and outreach activities. Your expertise will help our members achieve their health goals, and you'll have the flexibility to work in a hybrid remote arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, implement, and/or deliver health and fitness improvement programs and services, fitness center promotions, and outreach activities.
- Provide individual and group exercise instruction, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for participants.
- Monitor fitness facility operations, maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming space for members.
- Conduct fitness testing and assessments, advising participants on their results and designing individualized programs to meet their interests, abilities, and goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing needs.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- An Associate's degree in a related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.) or equivalent combination of education, industry experience, and current certification(s) from a HealthFitness-approved provider.
- Current Adult First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute.
- A Personal Training certification from an industry-recognized and HealthFitness-approved provider.
- Availability to work varied hours, including Monday - Thursday 6am-6pm and Friday 6am-2am.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will be considered a plus:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.).
- Additional certifications, such as Group Fitness or Special Populations.
- Experience working with diverse populations and creating inclusive fitness programs.
Skills and Competencies
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with participants of varying fitness levels and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of exercise science and fitness principles, with the ability to design safe and effective programs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in using fitness software and technology, with a willingness to learn new systems.
