Job Overview and Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will be responsible for supporting the full system lifecycle of delivered services, from requirements definition to system design, security reviews, deployment, implementation, operations, and maintenance. Your expertise in IT system engineering, systems administration, information security, and performance management will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our enterprise IT services. As an IT Systems Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, operations, security, and project teams, to deliver high-quality services in AWS, Azure, and private/hybrid cloud environments.
- Collaborate with software development, operations, security, and project teams to deliver enterprise services in cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and private/hybrid clouds.
- Analyze requirements, design solutions, provision resources, install and configure services, and provide ongoing operations and maintenance support as needed.
- Deploy and manage custom Microsoft .NET web applications, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Integrate and manage COTS and SaaS solutions, leveraging your expertise in system administration and cybersecurity.
- Complete security documentation, participate in security reviews, and remediate security vulnerabilities to ensure the highest level of security and compliance.
- Perform real-time system monitoring of service resources and key processes, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing system performance.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for our products and services, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues and exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Participate in on-call/after-hours support rotations, demonstrating your commitment to delivering exceptional service and support.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and excellent communication skills. The following qualifications and skills are essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 4 years of experience in system engineering or system administration. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience administering Windows Server operating systems, with Linux experience being a plus. Proficiency in system and performance monitoring, as well as configuration management, is also required.
- Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivation, proactivity, and the ability to independently plan and prioritize work, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results and meeting deadlines.
In addition to these essential qualifications, the following skills and experience are highly desirable:
- Experience supporting Microsoft Web Servers and Microsoft SQL, with a strong understanding of database administration and management.
- Experience managing servers and services in AWS or Azure, with a focus on cloud computing, scalability, and security.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure DevOps Server, and DevOps pipelines, with a strong understanding of agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) principles.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker, with a focus on containerization, orchestration, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible, with a strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation principles.
