Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Library Aide Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Library Aide Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to our library staff, enabling them to focus on teaching and guiding students in the library and classrooms. Your responsibilities will include managing the circulation desk, processing and shelving books, creating engaging book displays, and supervising student workers. You will be the first point of contact for students seeking general information and library resources, making your role crucial in providing a welcoming and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulation Desk Management: Check books and other supplies in and out, manage overdues and obligations, and maintain weekly, monthly, and yearly statistics.
• Collection Management: Process and catalog new books, shelve books, journals, DVDs, and other materials, and perform book repairs as needed.
• WIN Related Duties: Support staff and students with using MyFlexLearning to manage WIN offerings and sign-ups, take attendance for WIN offerings in the library, including Peer Tutoring.
• General Duties: Set up and maintain themed displays, order supplies, manage the copy machine, and maintain supplies for printers and student supply desks.
• Supervision and Instruction: Provide consistent and on-time supervision and instruction to students, and implement other job-related duties as needed.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following essential qualifications:

• Familiarity with Computers and Online Applications: Proficiency in Google Drive, email, web searching, and online catalogs, with the ability to learn new skills and technologies.
• Enjoy Working with Students and Teachers: A passion for working with students and teachers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to Process and Shelve Books: Physical ability to lift, carry, and shelve books, with attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Dynamic and Multi-Tasking Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
• Experience with Follett/Destiny: Familiarity with Follett/Destiny or similar library management systems is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Library or Educational Experience: Previous experience working in a library or educational setting, with knowledge of library operations and procedures.
• Teaching or Tutoring Experience: Experience teaching or tutoring students, with the ability to create engaging and supportive learning environments.
