Job Overview and Responsibilities
As a Math Teacher/Tutor at Mathnasium, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their math goals and develop a lifelong love for learning. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Teaching students in grades K-12 using our customized learning plans and curriculum
- Assisting students with homework completion and providing individualized support
- Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles and needs
- Collaborating with other instructors and staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
- Providing feedback and progress updates to parents and students
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with our curriculum and teaching methods
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Math proficiency up to Algebra (required) and preferably through Geometry and Calculus
- Exceptional score on Mathnasium's Math Literacy exam (material from 2nd grade and up)
- Availability for at least 2 weekday shifts, with a minimum of 3-4 hours per shift
- Clear record on a state and national background check
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and learning styles
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring math to students in grades K-12
- Familiarity with our curriculum and teaching methods (or willingness to learn)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
