About Our Company and the Role
MSA Safety is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of safety products and services that protect people and assets. Our Globe Footwear Plant, a division of MSA Safety, specializes in crafting high-quality, protective leather footwear for firefighters. We're now seeking a skilled Production Worker to join our team and support our stitching operations. As a key member of our production team, you'll play a vital role in helping us deliver top-notch footwear that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
As a Production Worker - Stitching, you'll be responsible for performing a range of stitching operations using industrial sewing machines. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Performing various stitching operations, including hand stitching, changing needles and bobbins, and utilizing a variety of industrial single needle, double needles, and programmable machines to stitch leather footwear.
- Working in different departments and accepting cross-training in other jobs to support production needs and drive flexibility.
- Reading production tags and ensuring the quality of your work to meet our high standards.
- Lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, as well as working in a fast-paced environment with varying production demands.
You'll be working a 1st shift schedule (6:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Thursday, and 6:00 am - 12:00 Noon on Friday), with overtime as business needs dictate. We're offering a competitive starting pay of $18.00/hr, with additional compensation available depending on your experience and qualifications.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need to meet our essential qualifications, which include:
- Demonstrated experience in sewing/stitching, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- The ability to speak, read, and write English effectively.
- Physical stamina to reach 12-18 inches, sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and lift up to 30-50 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail to ensure quality and efficiency.
- A positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
While not essential, we also prefer candidates with:
- Previous experience in Quality Control and Inspection, which can help you hit the ground running.
- Good manual dexterity skills and the ability to work effectively with your hands.
