Job Overview
As a Ramp Agent, you will play a critical role in our ground operations, working in a fast-paced environment to coordinate planes on the ground, handle freight and baggage, and ensure our ground activities run smoothly. You will be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively with other Ground Operations Groups to meet flight departure schedules. Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly support to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers
- Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our organization
- Be responsible for delivering excellent customer service to individuals seeking to travel, use freight or baggage services by marshaling aircraft at ramps and terminals
- Load, unload, service, direct, and coordinate Company Aircraft
- Receive and record customer items, aircraft cargo, mail, and company materials as required
- Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading items, freight, airmail, aircraft cargo, counterbalance, and company materials according to a predetermined plan received either electronically or physically from an Operations Specialist
- Submit, either electronically or physically, a Cargo Bin Loading Slip (CBLS) to an Operations Specialist
- Receive, deliver, and transport freight and baggage to and from aircraft and prepare records regarding these duties
- Warehouse, weigh, load, receive, and deliver air freight, check air freight handled against accompanying documents to identify any discrepancies, and correct routine errors
- Protect customers' baggage, air freight, airmail, and COMAT from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction
- Use jetway stairs frequently to carry items checked at the gate to the aircraft bin
- Review freight documents for accuracy and correct documents as needed
- Perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning manually, including sweeping upholstery, cleaning windows, galleys, and lavatories, and removing trash according to relevant documentation
- Clean and service lavatories, operate lavatory trucks, and dispose of contents according to established procedures
- May perform duties of a Provisioning Specialist, including loading aircraft cabin interiors for flights with equipment and supplies like writing, trash, and grocery items according to relevant documentation
- Transport cabin and cleaning equipment between aircraft storage areas
- Operate or drive mechanized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, pushback tractors, bag trucks, toilet trucks, and de-icers
- Physically move around push trucks and compartments
- Work on and between passenger terminals, concourses, and airfreight facilities, both inside and outside
- May be exposed to a wide range of weather conditions, noise, and equipment fumes, vapor, dirt, and dust for extended periods
- Complete forms and paperwork associated with work tasks according to established policies and enter such data into the Company's information system as required
- Duties vary by size and organization of station
- Offer comfortable assistance to all colleagues and customers
- Have routine contact with individuals outside the organization, such as delivery agents, vendors, etc.
- Must be able to meet any physical capacity requirements listed on this description
- May perform other work duties as directed by Supervisor's Managers
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to work in a team environment and under stressful conditions
- Must be able to sufficiently complete Ramp Agent training program with a 90% or greater average and a probationary period
- Ability to read reports, follow instructions, learn and understand ramp operations methods, rules, and regulations
- Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies as needed
- Must work under close time constraints to achieve quick turns of aircraft
- Must satisfy all training requirements as outlined in the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and the Employment Agreement
- Must be able to be aware of moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment
- Must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in airline ground operations or customer service
- Knowledge of airline industry regulations and standards
- Experience working with mechanized equipment, such as belt loaders and lift trucks
- Ability to speak multiple languages
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
