About the Role
The Extraordinary Projects, Assessments, Appraisals, and Reaction (Lance) Pre-Assessments APJC Territorial Group is seeking a skilled and motivated security expert to conduct on-site assessments of physical security requirements for new AWS data centers. As a Security Industry Specialist, you will play a critical role in identifying variations in the application and establishment of approved physical security configuration estimates, recommended by internal guidelines and industry best practices.
This role directly impacts AWS physical security operations by providing robust assessments to these destinations during the formation process. You will be responsible for evaluating the use of all features of physical security, including people, processes, technology, and measures to address any physical security weaknesses before the locales are operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and document all security weaknesses and imperfections while on-site at newly constructed facilities.
- Support the client in ensuring effective mitigating actions are made to resolve the weakness.
- Collaborate directly with other regional/local AWS teams to assess physical security and related policies, procedures, and operating systems to ensure physical security efforts are in place prior to data center authorization.
- Work closely with other Lance teams to ensure continued collaboration and coordination.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and events to ensure cutting-edge assessments by developing and maintaining individual associations with key industry personnel and manufacturers.
- Assist the settlements team and other AWS partners to ensure findings are appropriately mitigated.
- Develop and maintain associations with clients to ensure client focus is at the forefront of our team's objectives.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 3+ years of combined working experience in the design, integration, installation, and execution of physical security systems, such as locks, access control, intrusion detection systems, and CCTV surveillance systems.
- A working knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED), including concepts and principles, data collection, analysis, presentations, and reports.
- The ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%) to ensure the delivery of the team's mission both regionally and internationally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as a candidate, you will ideally have:
- Experience in detailed planning and execution of physical security assessments/evaluations to safeguard critical assets and support the use of physical security guidelines across people, processes, and measures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physical security best practices, including the use of physical security, access control systems, security officer requirements, and adversary tactics.
- A fundamental understanding of data center operations and facilities.
- Demonstrated insight and high proficiency in training groups and leadership.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals regarding physical security plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in training and communicating with all levels of management.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
