Tech Tree Games is hiring a Gameplay Engineer! We’re a small mobile studio based out of the US with some very successful live games and more in development, and we’re looking to bring on more people to grow our company and our biggest game, The Tower. This position is primarily individual contributor work on features and content for the game. The ideal candidate is experienced enough to work with other developers and help ensure that the game’s codebase remains usable, clean, and well-documented, avoiding technical debt and other potential issues. The exact level of responsibility depends on the person and their experience, but professional experience in mobile F2P games is a strict requirement for this position. Tech Tree Games is an entirely remote studio. We are currently only able to hire applicants living in California or Texas as full-time employees, although we are open to contractors located elsewhere that are available during US business hours. What You’ll Do • Create and maintain features for The Tower, a mobile strategy game with idle elements • Contribute code for new content, features, events, and internal tools • Optimize and fix bugs in existing gameplay systems • Work with other developers to create compelling gameplay that puts the player first • Review code, documentation, and other work from developers on the game What We Need • 3+ years of professional experience on a live-operated mobile game • Proficiency with Unity and C# • Mobile-specific proficiency, including ad network SDKs, analytics, and similar features • Experience working in a remote environment with minimal overhead and supervision • Proficiency developing or maintaining backend logic using Firebase and Firestore • Experience navigating crash reporting tools (e.g., Crashlytics) to diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues What We’d Love • Experience working on tower defense, strategy, and/or idle games, especially The Tower • Well-rounded developer comfortable with wearing multiple hats on a small game team • Experience with React & JavaScript to assist with tool development What You’ll Get • Competitive pay based on experience • Medical and dental benefits and 401(k) plan with match (for full-time employees) • Flexible hours and time off • Minimal meetings, no corporate overhead, just game development To Apply If you are interested, please send an email with your resume/CV, portfolio, desired compensation, and any other considerations.
