Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled GED Math, Science, and Social Studies Teacher to join our team at East Windsor and Rockville High Schools. This part-time evening position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, with classes held on Monday evenings at Rockville High School and Thursday evenings at East Windsor High School. As a GED Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction to adult learners, helping them to achieve their educational goals and improve their prospects for future success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate Math, Science, and Social Studies instruction in the General Education Development Program, following VRABE guidelines and written curriculum
- Teach assigned students on Monday evenings (5:30-8:30 p.m.) at Rockville High School and Thursday evenings (5:30-8:30 p.m.) at East Windsor High School
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of adult learners
- Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction to ensure students are meeting their educational goals
- Collaborate with colleagues and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in adult education and GED instruction
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must hold a valid 107 CT certification for GED instruction. Additionally, you should have:
- A strong background in Math, Science, and Social Studies, with the ability to teach a range of subjects and skill levels
- Experience teaching adult learners, preferably in a GED or similar program
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills, with the ability to engage and motivate adult learners
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to teaching and learning
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for helping adult learners achieve their educational goals
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Math, Science, Social Studies, or a related field
