Job Description:
• Answer the phones
• Handle client intakes and consultations from start to finish
• Learn and work with Ohio’s unemployment compensation online systems as part of the intake process
• Process mail and scan to the appropriate files
• Prepare correspondence to be reviewed by the attorneys
• Assemble discovery materials and exhibits for court and depositions
• Maintain the attorneys’ and firm calendars and assist with calendar maintenance as needed
• Handle electronic filings to and from courts
• Get to know and build relationships with clients
• Maintain and manage client and matter files, mostly electronic but some paper
• Prepare engagement letters
• Assist with billing, including receiving and logging retainers
• Process credit card payments and deposit checks
• Assist with collecting past-due invoices
• Keep the office organized, comfortable, and functional by managing supplies and vendors
Requirements:
• Preferably 3 years’ experience in an office environment, ideally a legal office
• Proficient in a Windows environment and online/Cloud-based file management
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Highly detail-oriented and good organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Excellent people skills
• Experience with Clio a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with employment law a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with the unemployment compensation system a plus, but not required
