We are seeking a pragmatic, U.S.-licensed General Counsel to support a small multi-family office by providing first-line legal advice, triaging issues, and handling routine legal needs while coordinating escalation to specialized attorneys when appropriate. This role includes advising on day-to-day legal questions, drafting and sending formal letters, notices, and demands, supporting pre-litigation efforts, guiding pro se situations when practical, and overseeing basic motions when needed. You will review contracts, NDAs, and terms while directing paralegals on drafting, ensuring work is efficient and cost-effective. The core responsibility is judgment: knowing what you can handle, what should be handled by paralegals, and when to bring in specialists such as litigators, criminal defense, tax, or estate attorneys. You will act as a gatekeeper for legal spend and quality, ensuring proper coverage without overengineering or overbilling. This is a low-hour, high-impact advisory role that requires strong general legal knowledge, clear communication, and disciplined self-awareness about limits.
