Payroll & Contractor Coordinator (Contract Role) (4–6 hrs/month)
Empowered Cooks | Remote | Contractor
Empowered Cooks is a fast-growing, YouTube-first e-commerce brand that partners with contractors across multiple projects each month. We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Payroll & Contractor Coordinator to manage time tracking, review contractor hours, ensure accountability, and prepare monthly payroll.
This is a flexible, part-time contract role (approximately 4–6 hours/month) with the potential to grow into expanded HR responsibilities over time.
⭐ What You’ll Do
You will own the monthly payroll accountability process, including:
Payroll & Time Tracking
• Review contractor hours submitted each month using our time-tracking tool.
• Confirm hours are associated with real work, correct projects, and clear deliverables.
• Communicate directly with contractors to clarify missing, incorrect, or questionable hours.
• Prepare a monthly payroll summary for all contractors.
• Submit payroll (or prepare final payroll for approval).
Contractor Accountability
• Follow up with contractors on late submissions, unclear entries, or inconsistencies.
• Ensure contractors are staying aligned with expectations and accountable to their hours.
• Maintain a simple monthly tracking system for contractor hours, rates, and communication.
Communication & HR Support
• Maintain clear, respectful, documented communication with contractors.
• Make decisions independently about which hours should be approved, flagged, or corrected.
• Escalate only when necessary—this role is empowered to operate autonomously.
⭐ What We’re Looking For
This is an excellent role for someone early in their operations, admin, or payroll support career who enjoys structure, clarity, and helping teams stay accountable.
You’re a great fit if you:
• Are organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
• Have strong written communication skills
• Are comfortable holding remote contractors accountable
• Can review time logs and spot inconsistencies
• Are able to make independent decisions with confidence
• Are comfortable working just a few hours a month, primarily at month-end
• Are eager to learn our time-tracking system (no prior experience needed)
⭐ Requirements
• Ability to work remotely
• Availability for 4–6 hours at the end of each month
• A calm, clear communication style (professional, firm, and kind)
• Comfortable reaching out to contractors directly about time tracking questions
• Strong integrity and commitment to accurate, fair payroll practices
• Experience with payroll, operations, or administrative work is a plus, but not required
⭐ Compensation
This is a contract role.
Please include your hourly rate when applying.
⭐ Growth Opportunities
If the partnership works well, this role may expand into additional HR responsibilities as the company grows—recruiting, onboarding, contractor organization, and more.
